Description

Springfield Prep Charter School is a public charter school in Springfield, Massachusetts that opened in the 2015-16 school year and serves 270 students in grades K-4 in the 2018-19 school year.  The school has emerged as one of the highest performing in Massachusetts, demonstrating that all students can succeed with high expectations and the right supports.  We will grow to ultimately serve nearly 500 students in grades K-8. We are driven by the belief that all children deserve a world-class education and that they can and will achieve when provided with high expectations, rigorous curriculum, and a joyful school culture.  We are currently seeking a high capacity individual to serve as a Operations & Communications Coordinator (OCC).

 

Summary

The OCC plays a critical role on the school’s Operations Team (Ops Team).  The OCC coordinates a number of operations projects that are critical to the school’s mission and ensures that teachers and instructional leadership are able to focus exclusively on high-quality instruction.  The OCC role is ideal for those who excel at building relationships among diverse stakeholders, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and who have extraordinary time management skills.  The OCC reports to the Director of Finance & Operations (DFO).

 

Key Responsibilities:

Examples of key responsibilities include:

  • Implement the school’s student recruitment and enrollment system to ensure that the school enrolls a diverse student body and that the new student enrollment process is efficient and positive for all new families.  
  • Build and maintain relationships with students, teachers, families, community members and donors so that all stakeholders feel invested in the school’s mission and vision.
  • Manage and interpret large data sets and provide summary information for the Springfield Prep team to help the school improve systems in academics, school culture and operations.
  • Coordinate the school’s teacher and staff hiring process (recruitment activities, scheduling, initial phone screens, email and phone correspondence)to provide an efficient, professional, and positive hiring experience for new staff.
  • Write external and internal correspondence (emails, newsletters, grant reports and social media posts) that communicate the school’s mission, achievements, needs, and updates in a compelling way.

 

Qualifications & Characteristics

We’re seeking candidates who excel in relationship-building, are results-oriented, and have strong project management and data analysis skills. You should have:

  • A demonstrated ability to craft compelling written and verbal communications to different audiences including families, teachers, donors, and community members.
  • Experience analyzing and using data to inform decision making and communication
  • A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and among a diverse group of stakeholders
  • A demonstrated commitment to meeting a high bar and a history of getting things done even in the face of obstacles
  • Experience managing multiple projects and ability to communicate progress with internal and external audiences
  • Strong time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines

 

Requirements

  • BA or BS with a record of strong academic performance.
  • Minimum of 1 year work experience in a project management, data management, operations or related environment, strongly preferred.  
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, G Suite and Excel.
  • Spanish proficiency or fluency, preferred
  • This is a mid-level operations role; recent college graduates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
